The nature of cytological and submicroscopic changes in convoluted seminiferous tubules of the testes (testicular artery and artery of ductus deferens separately) was studied in 24 rats under the conditions of short-term disturbances of blood flow with the use of cytohistological and submicroscopic methods. It was established that in the long-term period (on the 30th day testicular artery clamping for 15 minutes), the wall of blood vessels and convoluted seminiferous tubules membrane thickened, many of them were deformed, and the diameter was reduced to 143.72 ± 2.81 mm. Only 35% of tubules retained normal structure in comparison to 49% in animals that had artery of ductus deferens clamped during that period. Severe degree of spermatogenic epithelium cells damage was detected in 30% of the seminiferous tubules, compared to 15% of tubules in the testis of animals with injured artery of ductus deferens. The number of spermatocytes at the preleptotene stage constituted 170.60 ± 3.90 vs. 150.80 ± 3.18. The number of spermatocytes at the pachytene stage decreased to 187.45 ± 4.30 vs. 218.40 ± 2.90. The amount of spermatids of the 7th the stage of development reduced to 530.00 ± 3.70 versus 470.00 ± 3.60 in animals during artery of ductus deferens clamping.
The results indicated that a temporary blockade of blood flow in the testicular artery or in the artery of ductus deferens that may occur during surgical interventions on the spermatic cord, led to disturbances of spermatogenesis more severein case of the testicular artery injury.
